Venusian Friday baths without a bathtub
for ritualising and romanticising tiny bathrooms in the city
I’ve never yet had a bathtub of my own, in my home, and I’m always surprised about how the people I know who do have them aren’t using them to ritualise, nourish and heal their energy almost every single day.
It’s just like when I was too young to casually drink with my family, lol, and I used to think that my friend with the full bar at home and the cool parents must have such a fun, and someday when I get to have a life like her too I’m going to make so many cocktails and throw so many parties.
Now, I am grown up, I have a full bar at home, and I actually feel bored of and excuse myself from just how much my parents like to drink wine.
I do have a shower, like any urban, tiny home in Mumbai, and I can say I still have the most luxurious baths. Fridays are Venus days, and they’re that one day of the week that’s energetically perfect for a cleansing self-care bath ritual.
In no particular order, a list of things I do to create Venusian luxury in my tiny bathroom and make cleansing with water a spell, a container for renewal and an Aphroditesque ritual, with just a showerhead, a faucet and a bucket available to me in this current home <3
This post spans the five senses: sight, smell, taste, sound and touch, with notes, nudges of inspiration and reflective questions as prompts to inspire creating a bath (in your shower) that evokes, ritualizes and cleanses through one or all of these portals of sensual experience that we got lucky enough to be born with. This piece is also replete with links to little luxuries I regularly turn to and consider worthy of recommending, from playlists to practices to fragrance combinations. It ends with a list of my favourite bathing indulgences, haircare and secret skincare fav that I guard from social media for reasons you’ll definitely understand.
